Terra Saar Weinresort & Spa

Set amidst the vineyards along the Saar River, Terra Saar is set to become a distinctive new wine and spa resort in the tri-border region of Germany, France, and Luxembourg. Scheduled to open in September 2026, the estate is located in one of Europe’s most prestigious wine landscapes, shaped by a strong presence of renowned VDP wineries.

The architecture by Matteo Thun draws inspiration from the region’s Roman heritage and reinterprets it in a refined contemporary language. Arched forms, natural stone, and earthy materials define the ensemble, which appears to grow organically from the landscape, reminiscent of a terraced vineyard. This architectural narrative continues throughout the interiors: 80 rooms in the main building and 20 winemaker residences are consistently crafted from natural materials, expressing a quiet sense of clarity, restraint, and serenity. Each residence is dedicated to a regional winemaker, establishing a direct and meaningful connection to the Saar wine region.

The culinary concept deliberately avoids a single signature restaurant in favor of a curated gastronomic landscape: a market-style restaurant, a pizzeria, and a vinotheque that places a clear emphasis on regional wines, complemented by tastings with local producers.

The ensemble is further enhanced by a spa of around 2,000 square meters, where indoor and outdoor pools flow seamlessly into one another, opening up uninterrupted views across the vineyards. A dedicated longevity center, including an oxygen chamber, extends the traditional spa experience with a more regenerative, future-oriented approach to wellbeing.

With Terra Saar, a place is being created that does not merely present the Saar region, but makes it vividly tangible through architecture, gastronomy, and wine culture. The project is developed by Vorreiter AG.
